MMS Home Learning

We hope that everyone is well and staying safe. This has been a challenging time in our lives and we appreciate your patience as we navigate Home Learning together. Teachers have been developing Home Learning opportunities for our students beginning on March 30th. All teachers are providing learning activities via Schoology, our primary Learning Management System (LMS). All Manhattan students know how to access Schoology and should be checking in on Schoology daily to check for assignments and opportunities to engage with classroom teachers and students.

In order to minimize students needing to check in with every teacher, every day, we adjusted our school schedule for our time in Home Learning. On Mondays, students will check in to all their regular scheduled classes. Teachers will have various things for students to engage in. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, lessons will be shared for periods 1, 3, 5 and 7. Content for periods 2, 4 and 6 will be posted on Wednesdays and Fridays. Students should plan for around four hours of schoolwork each day; an average of 30 minutes per class period.

I am asking students and parents to make the following commitments:

Students:

  1. Create a schedule: Sample schedule for students and parents.

  2. Digital citizenship/chromebook expectations.  Same as in school.

  3. Check each of your class periods in Schoology. Map out your day and what needs to be completed.

  4. Attendance is taken based on work completed/turned in through Schoology.

  5. Student online behavier expectations.

Parents:

  1. Set expectations for student completion of school work

  2. Partner with teachers, admin and counseling to support your child

  3. Technology check-in (Chromebook, Wifi, charger)

  4. Read Principally Speaking each Friday

Thank you
