"Educating the mind without educating the heart
is no education at all"- Aristotle
Our counseling department is honored to serve the emotional, academic, and social needs of the Manhattan community. Marci Amaturo and Zennia Jennie have over 40 combined years of experience working with youth in public education. In addition to working with our students on an individual basis our counselors go into the classroom and teach lessons that help students develop their career literacy. Our counselors partner with family, school staff, and community to assure student well being.
The BVSD counseling program optimizes school success for all students in the academic, career, and personal-social development by including classroom lessons in the areas of academic success, career development, and social/emotional development, advocating for ALL students and promoting district and school goals such as achievement, cultural diversity, equity and school safety.
Need to speak to a counselor? Please fill out the appropriate Google Form based on your grade and/or letter of the alphabet on our Contact the Counselors page.
Through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports, we provide more targeted and intensive help for students who need it -- both academically and social/emotionally.
We strive to support all students with universal programming.
When a student is struggling, our teachers, school counselors and psychologists give more targeted help.
If targeted support does not work or a student is in crisis our educators employ more intensive interventions.
