Our computer lab offers a space where students are encouraged to discover, explore, invent, and collaborate within a wide range of design and engineering challenges. The Applied Technology curriculum currently consists of Multimedia, Programming, and T.I.D.E. (Technology, Innovation, Design and Engineering) classes, in which students explore various design challenges. Programming students learn computational thinking strategies that are applicable to all sorts of real-world problems both in school and in the wide world beyond. Multimedia students are able to make their ideas come to life through audio, video, and 2D and 3D design platforms. T.I.D.E. students learn additive and subtractive manufacturing processes, alternative energy concepts, and digital citizenship. 

The Lab is equipped with a number of state-of-the-art machines that students learn to calibrate and control in order to make their ideas come to life. The lab includes a Universal laser cutter, a 3D printer, and a CNC router, to name but a few. We also have a well-appointed computer lab running the Adobe Creative Suite for 2D and 3D design, which puts professional-level design software directly in student hands.

The ultimate goal is to teach innovative design and engineering skills that will be useful for kids as they progress though their education, as well as long after they graduate. Students in the lab are doing much more than playing with cool tech gadgets, they are learning to use technology for the service of the community to solve real-world problems.
